Disposable vapes banned: what to choose instead?
Share
In short: in France, disposable e-cigarettes ("puffs") have been banned from sale since 26 February 2025. The alternatives are rechargeable puffs, cartridge pods and rechargeable kits, which last longer and are easier to recycle.
Were you looking for a puff and it is no longer on sale? Here is what changes and what you can choose instead.
What the rule says
According to service-public.gouv.fr, since 26 February 2025 it is prohibited to sell or give away disposable e-cigarettes. See our update vaping in France in 2026.
The rechargeable alternatives
- The cartridge pod: a compact device with a rechargeable battery and cartridges to replace. Simple to use, it is the natural next step after a puff. See pod or e-cigarette?
- The pod you fill yourself: a cartridge refillable with e-liquid. See how to fill a pod.
- The small rechargeable kit: a few more settings, for a customizable vape. See compact or mod?
What changes day to day
- A rechargeable battery: see how to charge.
- Consumables to replace (cartridge or coil) instead of a whole device. See when to change the coil?
- Less waste: see what to do with a used pod or battery?
